Dr. Bonnie Dunbar
NASA Astronaut and Professor of Aerospace Engineering, Texas A&M University
Please join us this month for what promises to be a very special evening with our guest Dr. Bonnie Dunbar, Retired NASA Astronaut and Professor of Aerospace Engineering, Texas A&M University. A veteran of five space shuttle missions, her distinguished career included serving as a mission specialist on three missions and as the payload commander on two, flying on the shuttles Challenger, Columbia, Atlantis, and Endeavour. Dr. Dunbar's missions, in which she logged over 50 days in space, involved over 150 scientific experiments, satellite deployment and retrieval, and docking with the Russian space station Mir. In preparation as a backup crew member for a three-month mission on Mir, she underwent a rigorous 13-month training program in Star City, Russia, earning her certification as a cosmonaut.
